Three years ago, thousands of peasants in northern Peru rejected the Río Blanco mining project. Surrounded by cloud forests and páramos (moors), they want a future for their organic and export agriculture. Social movements and communities from 4 provinces demand the creation of 'no-go zones' for mining. You can support them by signing our petition.

Dear representatives of the United Nations, of the European Union, of the Government of Peru and of the mining companies:

I hereby express my concern at the increase in hydrocarbon and mining concessions that threaten the integrity of fragile ecosystems, as well as the rights of affected farming and native communities.

I support the will of the social movements and communities in the provinces of Ayabaca, Huancabamba, Jaén and San Ignacio who have declared their territories ‘no-go zones for mining’.
