At the end of November, a delegation composed of five Peruvians experts in the field of mining and leaders of social movements in the four provinces, will arrive in Europe to participate in a series of events in Belgium, Germany, Holland, UK and Spain.

Josefina Aponte Guerrero
Peasant leader and member of the board of the rural community of Segunda y Cajas, Huancabamba province.

Elar Calle Huamán
Educator of the Office of Environment (VIMA) of Jaén. He was a leader of “Rondas Campesinas” in the
district of Bellavista (Jaén) and participated in the International Seminar El Dorado II, organized by
CATAPA in Guatemala in 2009. He works in the education and training with communities on environmental
issues. In Belgium.

Magdiel Carrión
Peasant leader of the Provincial Federation of Peasant Communities of Ayabaca, commoner in the rural
community of Yanta and new president (2010-2012) of the National Confederation of Communities Affected
by Mining in Peru (CONACAMI). He has extensive experience in fighting against the mining project Majaz /
Rio Blanco and he has suffered the criminalization of protest nearby. In Holand.

José de Echave Cáceres
Ph.D. in Economics from the Sorbonne University (Paris). He co-founded CooperAcción and he is the
responsible person of a program of Collective Rights and Extractive Industries. He has 13 years experience in
the study of the impacts of mining on communities in Peru. He also serves on the executive council of the
Red Muqui and professor at Pacific University in the Diploma in mining. He was actively involved in local
consultation processes of the provinces of Ayabaca and Huancabamba, and regularly publishes opinion
pieces in newspapers such as The First or radios as the CNR. In France.

Fidel Torres Guevara
Piura biologist. Fidel is a member of several organizations such as the Regional Network for Water and Development of Piura.
